How Does An iPod Work - It's Easier To Use Than You Think

Imagine this. You have just opened the box and out came your new iPod. Now you ask yourself, "How does an iPod work?"

Well, using the iPod is quite learnable, if not easy. Of course, you won't learn everything right away. But you could at least learn how you can put and listen music to your iPod. Using the iPod is almost always synonymous with using iTunes. You need to download iTunes into your computer first.

To learn how to start using your iPod, you need to get familiar with its keys. Now turn on your iPod. Just press any key on your iPod and it will turn on. Use the wheel to navigate through the menus. Just tap on the click wheel a little and you will see the menu. Just go through it and then tap the middle of the click wheel if you want to use a particular item on the menu. Then to go back to the top menu, you only have to press the click wheel up.

Putting a Song on iTunes

You have many sources for music files. You can either have some existing MP3 songs on your PC or you can rip songs from CDs. And of course, you can always buy individual songs and albums from the iTunes music store. The key thing is to load all of your songs to iTunes so you can transfer them to your iPod when you want to.

To load the songs from your CD to iTunes, get your CD and make sure you have an internet connection. Insert your CD and open iTunes. Now all you have to do is click the import button and wait for it to finish.

For MP3 songs, all you have to do is open the folder where these songs are located and then drag the specific songs you want to add to an open iTunes window. You will know when a song has been successfully added when it is indicated by a plus sign.

Loading Your Songs to Your iPod

While iTunes is still open, connect your iPod to your computer through USB. Then find the sync iPod button from the file menu. Click that button and the songs that you have on your iTunes will be loaded to your iPod. Just a bit of caution though, do not click other buttons on iTunes especially on the first sync. Doing so may just create problems for you later on. You might also want to change the settings as to what to sync with your iPod especially when you have data other than songs on iTunes.

Remember that you should practice using the click wheel so you can navigate your iPod with much ease. For navigating songs on your playlist, it's usually clicking it to the right to move to the next song and left to the previous song. If you want to rewind the current song, all you have to do is press and hold that click wheel to the left and to right if you want to forward it.

Now that you have your songs on your iPod, you won't be asking yourself, "How does an iPod work?" You can now listen to music anywhere you are. Of course, you can also have videos and podcasts on the last few generation iPods too.
